Tech Tools Repository: Tools for English Language Learners

List of Tools for English Language Learners

Microsoft Word Tools for English Language Learners

English language learners can get the support that they need using the Translate button on the Review tab in Word or PowerPoint. This tool opens a sidebar where an English learner can input a sentence in their preferred language and translate it to English. The translation can be considered before adding it to the document.

Microsoft Translator

The Translator app helps groups tackle language barriers. The app is free and all parties download it. Translator will provide subtitles in the selected language for the listener, not always perfect. This app can also be used for small group conversations with each participant selecting their preferred language for subtitles.

Immersive Reader

Students who struggle to focus when reading or who are English language learners can use the Immersive Reader in Word, PowerPoint or online through their Chrome browser. This product simplifies the interface of the document or webpage and has various features such as text to voice (with speed control), and single word or whole selection translation- with or without supporting icons.
