Ecology Research Guide

Introduction

In Ecology 100, you are using the same citation format that is used in The Journal of Mammalogy. It is called The Council of Science Editors. For examples of how to cite in this style please consult the examples below and/or articles that have been published the in The Journal of Mammalogy such as Seasonality in daily movement patterns of mandrills revealed by combining direct tracking and camera traps or Mammal collections of the Western Hemisphere: a survey and directory of collections.

Your in-text citation will follow this format:

(First Author's Last Name Year)

Example 1: (Iudica 2024).

 

If there are multiple authors, use only the first author's last name and include et al.

Example 2: (Garnett et al. 2015)

For an article, you will make your citations follow this format:

AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, AUTHOR'S FIRST INITIAL. Year. Full Article title. Journal Title Volume #: page range.
