Funding from Friends of the Blough-Weis Library helps the staff connect with students at every level of their academic career. Library staff go into classrooms and teach students how to research topics in every academic discipline, how to cite sources, how to create annotated bibliographies or literature reviews, and so much more. To help students develop their research skills, library staff provide one-on-one research consultation for capstone and other research projects. Librarians also promote the use of open educational resources (OER) to reduce the textbook cost burden on students.
When SU shifted to virtual learning because of COVID-19 in 2020, Blough Weis Library provided students virtual resources for research help. Students had the option to email or go online on Blough-Weis Library's Website to schedule a virtual appointment with a research librarian.
