Multi-Lingual Dictionaries

• Lexilogos: Select a language, enter the word you want to search, and then choose a dictionary to search. Or you can link directly to pages for interactive on-line dictionaries or scanned copies of older dictionaries.
• Dictionary of Foreign Phrases and Abbreviations, ed. Kevin Guinagh: A compilation of words, terms, and phrases from other languages which are used in English.

Encyclopedias & Reference (in English)

• Britannica Online Academic Edition: The oldest and most authoritative English-language encyclopedia. Articles are written by subject-matter experts and updated regularly.
• Credo Reference Academic Core: Search across all reference ebooks in this collection, or select a topic to browse available resources.
• Gale Virtual Reference Library: Searches across multiple reference works in the Gale Ebooks Library.

Citation Guides

• MLA Style - Quick Reference: this page is maintained by the Blough-Weis Library. It includes examples of citations and bibliographic entries for the most common types of scholarly materials.
• OWL Purdue - MLA Formatting and Style Guide: The Online Writing Lab at Purdue has been maintaining this page for 25 years, and it's the most thorough and reliable reference to citations and bibliographies available.
• MLA Handbook, 8th edition (2016): For when you want the definitive source. There are copies on reserve at the circulation desk on the first floor as well as in the Reference area in the compact shelving on the lower level, call number LB 2369 .M52 2016.
