Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  1. Strategize how to come up with keywords for their research.
  2. Learn to consider and select appropriate databases for their research topic.
  3. Recognize the value of both scholarly and popular media for their research.
  4. See their research as part of a larger conversation with other researchers looking at similar topics.
  5. Understand the importance of citing their sources.

  1. Skim through this article looking for links, citations, and footnotes.
  2. Scroll through your social media accounts for tags and hashtags.
  3. Answer the following question in Padlet: How is research like social media?

  1. Search for your topic(s) in Library Search.

  2. Pick one source you might use in your paper.

  3. Find a passage in the article.

  4. Paraphrase the passage.

  5. Create the proper MLA in-text citation as well as the full bibliographic citation for the article you chose.

  6. Post your answers to Padlet.
